2026 National Finals Rodeo Adjusts Winning Payoffs for Each Go-Round; Average Payoff Remains the Same
LAS VEGAS
The National Finals Rodeo Committee announced today that the Wrangler NFR will compensate the Top 8 finishers in each go-round, up from the Top 6 finishers that had received payoffs in the past. The contestants that qualify for the NFR will experience these new payoffs when the event kicks off on Thursday, Dec. 3 and runs through Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The total prize money for the 2026 NFR is set at $14,270,736. This total consists of the $1.2 million guaranteed prize money for the NFR qualifiers and the competition prize money total of $13,070,736.
Under the new payment structure, the payoff for each go-round will be:
1st $33,893.25
The average payoff, awarded to the top finishers during the ten days of competition in Las Vegas, remains the same as the 2025 payoff:
1st $94,035.54
“The NFR will pay a record $14,270,736 to contestants this year and now, at the contestants urging, the rounds and average will pay out eight places,” PRCA CEO Tom Glause said. “This will only increase the excitement at PRORODEO's marquee event as contestants chase coveted gold buckles.”
The Wrangler NFR attracts the top 15 contestants in each of the seven events to compete for a share of the increased purse and the coveted PRCA Gold Buckle. In 2025, the event had a total attendance of 175,846 over the ten rounds of competition at the Thomas & Mack Center and has sold out 389 consecutive performances in Las Vegas.
