Battle of the Bands Competition to Offer Acts a Chance to Play in Cowboy Corral During the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo

Las Vegas, NV

LAS VEGAS – November 8, 2013 – Las Vegas Events announced today that eight bands will compete in a Battle of the Bands Competition for an opportunity to perform in Cowboy Corral at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The bands will compete over two weeks, beginning Nov. 12 at RockHouse Las Vegas at the Palazzo and culminating Nov. 19 at PBR Rock Bar & Grill at Planet Hollywood. Both competitions begin at 7 p.m. (PT).
 
A total of 8 bands will compete over the two weeks. The bands scheduled to compete on Nov. 12 include: Sierra Black, Crossroad South, Jordon Allena and Wade Trammell Band. For Nov. 19, the competitors are Nashville Drive, The Rowdy Band, Easy 8’s and Thrillbilly Deluxe. Two winners from each night will be guaranteed to play two nights inside Cowboy Corral. The winner of the Battle of Bands will play the two guaranteed nights, plus the final two performances on Dec. 13 and 14.
 
Judges for the contest include John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Sun, Kris Daniels of Rick & Kris in the Morning on 102.7 FM KCYE in Las Vegas and Ricardo Laguna, professional BMX rider and television personality.
 
RockHouse Las Vegas and PBR Rock Bar & Grill will offer $5 Coors drink specials during the Battle of the Bands Competition. There will also be Wrangler NFR ticket giveaways for those in attendance.
 
Cowboy Corral, the pre-event entertainment and hospitality area, is held in Cox Pavilion, adjacent to the Thomas & Mack Center.  Bands chosen to play prior to the Wrangler NFR begin performances at 5:45 p.m. starting on Thursday, Dec. 5. The Wrangler NFR culminates on Saturday, Dec. 14.
 
Each December, the top 15 contestants in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding qualify to compete at the Wrangler NFR.  Qualification is based on the 2013 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association World Standings.
