After more than 200 sold-out performances and $95 million in purse since it arrived in Las Vegas in 1985, the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo announced Wednesday it will remain in Las Vegas until 2014. The new agreement between the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Las Vegas Events (LVE) and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) was announced with a $2 million check presentation during the NFR, which is held annually in December.
The agreement continues to increase the purse each year of the contract and pay the PRCA $2 million per year. A portion – $1 million – comes from a national sponsorship through the LVCVA. The other $1 million is a guarantee from LVE to the PRCA.
The LVCVA markets Las Vegas to the world and manages the most active convention center in the world. Las Vegas Events is the official special events agency for the city, producing more than 50 events annually.
